PARAMARIBO, Suriname – Staatsolie, TotalEnergies Suriname and QatarEnergy have signed production sharing contracts (PSCs) for Suriname’s offshore blocks 6 and 8.

Both are to the west of the country’s Shallow Offshore area, south of the recent deepwater discoveries in the TotalEnergies-operated Block 58 and north of producing onshore fields.

Staatsolie will have a 40% interest in the PSCs via its subsidiary Paradise Oil Co., participating in collection and analysis of data, but with all costs during the initial six-year exploration phase borne by TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy.

The first commitment exploration well is due to be drilled in year three or year four. Both PSCs are valid for 30 years.

Following completion of Suriname’s Shallow Offshore Bid Round 2020-2021, Staatsolie signed PSCs with Chevron for Block 5 and Block 7 and with Shell for Block 5. All are currently undergoing exploration.
