TEHRAN, Iran – Drilling International Ltd. Co. (DCI), a subsidiary of Petroiran Development Co., has brought onstream E1P6, the first production well at the Nasr 5 satellite platform at the Sivand field in the Persian Gulf.

Previously DCI drilled and completed wells SICF7-SICF6 at the Esfand/Sivand fields.

A DCI spokesman, quoted by news service Shana, said conditions at Nasr 5 are unique due to the platform’s unconventional dimensions and the unstable seabed at the location, with further limitations imposed by power cables and entry and exit lines to the platform.

“Deploying conventional drilling rigs in the Persian Gulf along this platform has been virtually impossible, and as a result of these limitations, drilling operations to develop the Sivand field have not been possible over the past decades,” he explained.

The main customer is Iranian Offshore Oil Co.
