PSA sanctions life extension for Marulk offshore mid-Norway

Vår Energi has secured permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to extend the use of subsea facilities on the Marulk field in the Norwegian Sea to the end of 2030.

OSLO, NorwayVår Energi has secured permission from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority to extend the use of subsea facilities on the Marulk field in the Norwegian Sea to the end of 2030.

The original consent for operation of the field was due to expire on Dec. 31, 2021: Vår Energi requested the extension to recover the remaining reserves.

Marulk, discovered in 1992 in 370 m (1,214 ft) of water, was developed via a subsea template tied back 25 km (15.5 mi) to Equinor’s Norne field FPSO.

Production started in 2012.
