OSLO, Norway – Equinor has authorization from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to start up the Snorre field expansion facilities in the North Sea.

This follows sanction late last week from Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority.

The facilities comprise six subsea templates which will be tied into the Snorre A platform. In total, Equinor and its partners plan to drill 24 new wells, 13 producers, and 11 water-alternating gas injectors.

According to the amended plan for development and operations, approved in summer 2018, Snorre’s remaining recoverable reserves were around 195 MMbbl.
