IJMUIDEN, the Netherlands – Petronas Carigali has chosen Airborne’s thermoplastic composite pipe concept as one of its main offshore flowline solutions for hydrocarbon production.

Airborne says it offers a corrosion-free pipe combining collapse resistance with a smooth bore and spoolability. The small minimum bend radius, the company claims, allows fast and cost effective installation offshore. With no need for an annulus, the simple pipe structure allows for fast and secure qualification, Airborne adds.

The multi-year qualification project for Petronas starts this summer and should deliver the world’s first fully qualified offshore thermoplastic composite flowline, Airborne claims.
