LUXEMBOURG -- Subsea 7 has won a $60-million subsea installation contract from Centrica Energy Upstream for the Ensign project in the UK southern North Sea.
Ensign is in blocks 48/14 and 48/15 in the southern gas basin. The program involves engineering, procurement, installation, tie in, and pre-commissioning of 24 km (14.9 mi) of 10-in. (25-cm) gas and 2-in. (5-cm) methanol flowlines.
These will connect the new unmanned Ensign satellite platform to the existing subsea pipelines at the Audrey ‘A’ platform, 18 km (11.2 mi) to the southwest.
Subsea 7 also will engineer, procure, install, tie in, and pre-commission a 2-km (1.2-mi), 10-in. gas pipeline and associated control umbilical connecting the Ensign platform to a new subsea well.
Engineering, project management and procurement is under way at Subsea 7's Aberdeen, UK, office, while the group’s Vigra spoolbase in Norway will handle fabrication of the rigid pipelines. Offshore installations are scheduled for this summer.
