Final Nord Stream 2 pipe installed offshore Germany

The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is expected to start operating before the end of the year.

ZUG, Switzerland – A team onboard Dutch Marine Contractors’ pipelay barge Fortuna have welded the final pipe of the two offshore strings of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea.
Pipe number 200,858 was subsequently lowered onto the seabed offshore Germany. The section of the pipe from the German shore was the due to be connected to the section from Danish waters in an above water tie-in.
Once subsequent pre-commissioning activities has been completed, the new pipelines should start operating before the end of the year.
