Offshore staff
(UK) - Nippon Oil of Japan has won in the auction to buy BP PLC's stake in the Statfjord oil field in the North Sea, according to local sources.
The Japanese company is understood to have paid just over $260 million BP's share in the field.
BP's stake currently produces about 6,000 b/d of oil and has reserves of around 20 MMboe.
The deal also includes a 13% share in the northern leg of the pipeline that will carry gas to St Fergus on the Scottish mainland.
