Nexans has a €9-million contract from Perenco to deliver power and control cables for oilfield developments 40-km offshore Gabon.
The package will include submarine and underground XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) power cables, 27 km of fiber optic telecommunication cables, and 60 km of twisted and three-phase medium voltage (18/30 kV) power cables. The submarine system will provide power at 36 kV to four offshore platforms in water depths of 50 m. It will comprise 73 km of three-core, composite XLPE cables incorporating an 18-element fiber optic control core for control and communications functions.
The XLPE cables will be manufactured at Nexans' factory in Halden, Norway. Other parts of the package will come from group factories in Norway, Belgium, and France.
