DUBAI– Polarcus Ltd. (OSE: PLCS) will soon begin a major new RightBAND multi-client project over the Roebuck basin offshore Australia.
The Capreolus 3D survey will comprise 15,000 sq km (5,792 sq mi) and is designed to provide exploration companies with basin-wide high-quality broadband 3D seismic data over, and adjacent to, the recent Phoenix South oil discovery. The discovery, announced byApache Corp. on Aug. 18, has the potential to open up a major new oil province within one of the few remaining underexplored parts of the North West Shelf.
The Capreolus 3D survey is designed to enable companies to explore the petroleum potential within the primary Triassic and Jurassic reservoirs. It will begin in 4Q 2014, using two Polarcus A-Class 3D seismic vessels towing 12 x 120-m-long (39 x 394-ft-long) offset receiver arrays.
The resultant data from the Capreolus 3D survey will be processed through a prestack depth migration routine by DownUnder GeoSolutions in Perth, Australia, with final data products expected to be delivered within 2Q 2016.
