Polarcus names new seismic vessels

Polarcus released the names chosen for its six new seismic vessels at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists annual meeting.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada --Polarcus released the names chosen for its six new seismic vessels at the Society of Exploration Geophysicists annual meeting. The names were selected from those submitted by employees.

The two Ulstein Design SX124 12-streamer 3D vessels will be calledPolarcus Nadia and Polarcus Naila. The two Ulstein SX133 ICE 1A six-streamer 3D vessels will be the Polarcus Samur and the Polarcus Selma. The two SX134 ICE 1A 12-streamer 3D vessels will be Polarcus Asima and Polarcus Alima.

TheNadia and Naila are under construction and scheduled for operations in 4Q 2009. Work is scheduled to begin on the Samur and Selma in November 2008, and steel cutting on the Asima and Alima is set for 1Q 2009. All are being built in Dubai by Drydocks World – Dubai LLC.

The names are Arabic female names which, taken respectively, mean "the beginning," "acquirer," "swift," "secure," "protector," and "wise."
