ASKER, Norway – TGS has started acquiring further 3D seismic data in the Hoop Fault Complex area of the Barents Sea.
The extension is west of a previously announced, industry-funded survey in the area, and will add 3,391 sq km (1,309 sq mi) to existing Hoop Fault Complex data.
M/V Polar Duke is the sole vessel involved, towing 10 x 6,000-m (19,685-ft) streamers with 75-m (246-ft) cable separation. Acquisition should be completed early this fall.
The expanded project will provide TGS with more than 7,300 sq km (2,818 sq mi) of contiguous multi-client 3D data. TGS will also acquire around 1,100 sq km (425 sq mi) of seismic data on a proprietary basis for a separate customer.
Processed data processing should be available to clients from 2Q 2012.
