LEEDS, UK — Getech is applying its geospatial software and subsurface services to support the UK’s first offshore carbon storage licensing round.
The company has used its Exploration Analyst software to create maps to define optimal CO2 storage areas, based on data supplied by the UK’s North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA).
The NSTA has invited bids for 13 areas that could support the UK government’s goal of storing 20 MM metric tons to 30 MM metric tons of CO2 beneath the North Sea area by 2030.
