ASKER, Norway – TGS has started acquisition of the 4,770-sq km (1,842-sq mi) Gambito 2020 3D survey in the MSGBC basin offshore The Gambia.
The company is undertaking the program in co-operation with BGP and The Gambian Ministry of Petroleum & Energy (MOPE), using the BGP Prospector.
Recently the vessel steamed south to prepare for the campaign after recently completing another 3D seismic survey for TGS off northern Senegal.
Gambito 2020 will cover acreage in deep and ultra-deepwaters, which according to TGS could be highly prospective, based on extensive basin floor fans identified in 2D regional seismic grids.
The survey will also be adjacent to Jaan, a ~30,000-sq km (11,583-sq mi) 3D multi-client project which recently delivered final PSTM/PSDM products.
Acquisition should take around three months to complete, with the full dataset set to be available after final processing in 2Q 2021.
Results will support a future licensing round. TGS also has exclusive rights to existing multi-client seismic data off The Gambia.
