TRONDHEIM, Norway ā€“ Electromagnetic Geoservices has issued an update on the activities of its seismic acquisition vessels so far this year.

At the start of 1Q 2020 the Atlantic Guardian was completing an assignment for Pemex in Mexican waters. It then transited in preparation for a proprietary survey offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

However, following notification from BP that the project had been postponed, the vessel sailed for Norway for cold stacking.

The client has since confirmed that the project is terminated, and EMGS will receive a contractual compensation fee of around $2 million.

The Petrel Explorer (ex-Thalassa) started the year transiting toward Mexico for additional acquisition work connected to a contracted two-year survey.

However, the client decided against pursuing this program in the near to mid-term. The Petrel Explorer then switched course to Norway to begin acquisition of a pre-funded multi-client survey offshore Norway.
