Bibby outlines North Sea decommissioning workscope

Bibby Offshore has won a contract from an unnamed North Sea operator for decommissioning operations in the UK’s East Shetland basin.

ABERDEEN, UK – Bibby Offshore has won a contract from an unnamed North Sea operator for decommissioning operations in the UK’s East Shetland basin. 

The work is due to be completed by the end of 2016. Bibby will use one of its construction support vessels for the operation, roughly 550 km (342 mi) northeast of Aberdeen.

Scope includes remedial rock placement over the existing 16-in. oil export pipeline, recovery of 12-in. pipeline bundles,subsea structure removal with pile severance, and debris removal within the platform’s 500-m (1,640-ft) zone and along bundle routes.

Additionally, Bibby will provide waste disposal services to recover items that could be decontaminated, disposed of or recycled, followed by an over-trawl of the cleared field.
