But Offshore will keep to ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for the foreseeable future.

Talos Energy expects to bring more wells onstream this year from various development projects in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The Katmai West #2 appraisal well, drilled and completed ahead of scheduled in December 2024, delivered more than 400 ft gross of hydrocarbon pay. It should begin production before mid-year 2025.

Results from this well and the performance of Katmai West #1 well have led the company to almost double its estimate of ultimate recovery from the Katmai West field to about 50 MMboe, with potential for the wider Katmai area to hold 200 MMboe.

At the Sunspear field, the deepwater drillship West Vela has started completion operations and first oil should follow this spring, in the range 8,000 to 10,000 boe/d. The field will be tied back to the Talos-operated Prince platform.

Thereafter, the company expects to turn its attention toward drilling of the Daenerys well.

Recently, Talos agreed to raise its increase its interest to 29.76% in the Monument oil discovery in Walker Ridge blocks 271, 272, 315 and 316.

Monument will be developed as a subsea tieback to the Shenandoah production platform and should be online by late 2026, producing 20,000 to 30,000 boe/d under restricted flow due to facility rate constraints.

Nearby there is an additional 25-MMboe to 35-MMboe drilling location that could expand the resource. Other partners include operator Beacon and Navitas Petroleum.
