JAKARTA, INDONESIA — PT Bumi Pratiwi Hulu Energi (Prima Energi) has assumed outright ownership of the Northwest Natuna production sharing contract (PSC) offshore Indonesia.
This followed the company’s acquisition of AWE (AAL) NZ, AWE Northwest Natuna and AWE Holdings Singapore.
The PSC includes the 80-MMboe recoverable Ande Ande Lumut oil field, which Prima Energi plans to develop in phases, with first oil targeted by 2026.
Initially this will involve preparation of an early production system plan and a full field development plan to support selection of appropriate drilling, completion, and production techniques, and optimum separation of oil and water.
The early production system plan includes construction of a small central processing platform or wellhead platform producing up to 15,000 bbl/d from up to eight production wells as well as conversion of a tanker to either an FSO or FPSO.
State authority Migas and BPMigas approved the original Ande Ande Lumut plan of development in 2011. This will likely undergo revision to accommodate new technology or regulations and to more clearly define the new staged program that Prima Energi is proposing.
Ande Ande Lumut is a heavy oil field, bringing challenges including management of produced water and understanding the long-term recovery potential of the reservoir and how to achieve this.
The initial Phase 1 development will focus on the K Sand (up to nine wells) with one well dedicated to a long-term test of the G Sand.
Last November Prima Energi signed another PSC with the Indonesian government for the Bawean Working Area (WK) offshore East Java, which is thought to hold substantial reserves of oil and natural gas.
