HOUSTON – Bechtel has contracted Baker Hughes to supply gas turbines and centrifugal compressors for Woodside Energy’s Pluto LNG processing complex.

Woodside has commissioned a second train to process gas from the Scarborough field development offshore Western Australia.

Baker Hughes also provided turbomachinery for the first train, which has been in service since 2012.

Pluto Train 2 will have the capacity to produce around 5 MMt/yr of LNG: Scarborough’s gas has a CO2 content of 0.1%.

The scope of supply includes six LM6000PF+ aeroderivative gas turbines and 14 centrifugal compressors for the main refrigerant train, and one gas turbine generator.

Packaging of the turbine/compressor train, manufacturing of compressors and testing of the trains will take place at Baker Hughes’ facilities in Florence and Massa, Italy.
