Neptune joins Eni in Merakes gas project offshore Indonesia

Eni has completed the sale of 20% of its interest in the East Sepinggan area, offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, to Neptune Energy.

SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has completed the sale of 20% of its interest in the East Sepinggan area, offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, to Neptune Energy.
The Italian major will continue to operate the concession with a 65% interest, the remainder held by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi East Sepinggan with 15%.
Eni and Neptune were already partners in various upstream projects in Indonesia such as the Muara Bakau area off East Kalimantan, which includes the Jangkrik field in the Kutei basin.
East Sepinggan contains the Merakes field where drilling of subsea wells is under way with a dedicated transportation system in 1,500 m (4,921 ft) water depth, connected to the Jangkrik FPU 35 km (21.7 mi) to the northeast.
The produced gas will be shipped to the Bontang LNG plant using existing facilities at the Jangkrik field and the East Kalimantan transportation network.
