bp enters R&D agreement for Tangguh carbon capture developments

BP Berau Ltd. has signed a six-year cooperation agreement with Bandung Institute of Technology to advance R&D of carbon capture, utilization and storage.

BP Berau Ltd., as operator of the Tangguh production sharing contract offshore/onshore Indonesia, signed a six-year cooperation agreement in late July with Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to advance R&D of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

This covers feasibility studies to support the Tangguh CCUS project and the development of the Tangguh CCS hub, and it follows a memorandum of understanding signed by both parties in October 2023.

Also under the agreement, Tangguh will provide scholarships for ITB Master’s and Ph.D. students as well as support for infrastructure for the ITB Centre of Excellence for CCS and CCUS.
