Ocean Winds has generated power from the first sets of wind turbines at Moray West offshore wind farm in the Moray Firth off eastern Scotland.
Produced power is exported to the National Electricity Transmission System (NETS). During the development, construction vessels have worked from the ports of Invergordon and Nigg in the Cromarty Firth, with crew transfer vessels operating from Buckie harbor in Moray.
Following installation of all the foundations, offshore substations and array-cables, remaining turbine components are currently being pre-assembled at Nigg ahead of offshore installation.
At the onshore substation, construction work is nearing completion on the second circuit, following commissioning of the first. Export cables have been laid and buried within the cable corridor, completing the electrical connection between the wind turbines, and the NETS at Blackhillock substation.
The 882-MW wind farm, now nearing the end of the construction phase, should become fully operational in 2025.
