LONDON — Vattenfall has concluded a two-year program to investigate production of hydrogen on offshore wind farms and transportation to shore.
The HT1 project, designed around the company’s European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre off the coast of Aberdeen, supported the development of the UK government’s new regulatory and consenting regime for offshore hydrogen transportation and storage.
According to Vattenfall, it clarified the roles and responsibilities of the various regulators. The work was part-funded by DESNZ through the Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2 funding program.
The company decided to end the project having tested the development phase for decentralized offshore hydrogen production and in light of other industry advances. It plans to present its findings later this year.
