Malaysian/Japanese group assessing CO2 project offshore Sarawak

Petronas CCS Ventures has signed a storage site agreement with Petroleum Sarawak and a Japanese consortium concerning the depleted M3 Field offshore Sarawak.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Petronas CCS Ventures has signed a storage site agreement (SSA) with Petroleum Sarawak (Petros) and a Japanese consortium concerning the depleted M3 Field offshore Sarawak.

The SSA covers feasibility studies for CO2 storage sites at the field and planning for an associated development, including transportation pipelines and onshore terminals, and an assessment of the project’s technical and commercial feasibility.

Japex, JGC Holdings and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha are the three Japanese participants.
