HOUSTON — Rice University and Woodside Energy have committed to a five-year technology collaboration to cut greenhouse-gas emissions and develop lower-carbon solutions for various applications.
Woodside will supply $12.5 million in funding for the planned Woodside-Rice Decarbonization Accelerator, an initiative intended to take breakthrough decarbonization technology developed at the Rice labs to market.
The emphasis will be on fast-track commercialization, notably of manufacturing products derived from captured CO2 and methane. Rice will seek to deploy cold plasma technology for breaking down CO2.
