Offshore staff
ABERDEEN, UK — The Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) and the UK’s North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) are jointly issuing a call for offshore emissions measuring and monitoring technologies.
Their planned roadmap would provide operators of fixed and floating installations and onshore terminals with data on the emissions measuring and monitoring systems currently available and on the horizon. It will also address technology readiness, modification requirements and potential implementation costs.
The NZTC/NSTA are seeking solutions related to power generation, flaring and venting that are either deployed or close to deployment capability. They will assess submissions in terms of suitability for offshore application, scale of modifications required and measurement accuracy.
NZTC COO Rebecca Allison said, “Through our latest call, we will identify the emissions measuring and monitoring technologies that are going to drive progress, fill the gaps identified by industry, and encourage wider adoption.”
Doug Griffin, NSTA measurement and allocation manager, added, “This will improve the reliability of operators’ estimates of greenhouse-gas emissions from their upstream activities on the UKCS.”
Companies have until Nov. 3 to make submissions.
