TANANGER, Norway – HydraWell will assist Total and partner Socar on a P&A campaign at the Absheron field in the Azeri sector of the Caspian Sea.
The contractor will deploy its HydraHemera Perf, Wash and Cement jetting system, said to be capable of installing a rock-to-rock barrier in two days.
Plugging offshore wells with conventional methods, such as section milling, takes much longer to complete, HydraWell claimed, pushing up associated P&A costs.
The P&A campaign will take place at the field location 100 km (62 mi) southeast of Baku.
This will be HydraWell’s first job in the Caspian. To date it has installed over 220 Hydrasystem P&A plugs worldwide for 16 operators.
