Wellesley gets go-ahead for North Sea drilling

Wellesley Petroleum has authorization from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Wellesley Petroleum has authorization from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well in the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic will drill 35/12-6S, the first on production license 925, awarded last month and comprising parts of blocks 35/9 and 35/12.

The location is roughly 14 km (8.7 mi) southwest of the Gjøa field and 12 km (7.5 mi) east of theByrding field.
