Lancaster test wells to be fitted with dual-pod ESPs
June 1, 2018
Well re-entry and completion operations have started for the Lancaster field early production system west of Shetland, according to operator Hurricane Energy.
The Transocean harsh environment semisubmersiblePaul B. Loyd Jr. is conducting the drilling campaign, under the supervision of well operator Petrofac Facilities Management.
Ahead of mobilization to the field, the rig’s BOP underwent a maintenance program.
The Lancaster EPS involves use of two suspended horizontal wells drilled and tested in 2014 and 2016.
Well 205/21a-6 well tested at 9,800 b/d, while well 205/21a-7Z tested at 15,375 b/d. Both rates were boosted through use of electrical submersible pumps (ESPs) and were constrained by the capacity of surface test equipment.
During the coming operations, the wells will be completed with dual-pod ESPs.
