OSLO, Norway – Panoro Energy says the Ruche North East (DRNEM-1) appraisal well has finished drilling in the Dussafu Marin PSC, offshore Gabon.

Late last month, the company announced an oil discovery in the presalt Gamba and Dentale reservoirs.

A subsequent side track (DRNEM-1ST1) to the northwest tested the lateral extent and structural elevation of both reservoirs.

It was drilled to TD in the Dentale of 3,600 m (11,811 ft), around 800 m (2,624 ft) from the original wellbore, encountering roughly 34 m (111 ft) of oil pay in the two reservoirs and oil shows in various other stacked sands.

The well will now be P&A’d, and the BW Energy-led joint venture will assess future production of these resources in the next development phases.

John Hamilton, CEO of Panoro, said: “WithTortue Phase 1 now in production, and planning for Phase 2 under way, the successive Ruche area discoveries provide the basis for future development phases to unlock the full potential of Dussafu over the next 20 years.”
