LONDON – Statoil (U.K.) has contracted the semisubmersible Transocean Spitsbergen to drill the Verbier prospect this summer on the P.2170 license in the UK central North Sea.
According to partner Jersey Oil & Gas, this will form a three-well, Statoil-operated campaign.
Verbier, in blocks 20/5b and 21/1d, is thought to hold prospective resources of 162 MMboe.
Statoil will fund all costs up to a cap of $25 million for the well, with JOG benefiting from an additional carry of 10% from co-venturer CIECO Exploration and Production (UK).
