STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersibleIsland Innovator will P&A the Edvard Grieg Southwest appraisal well 16/1-27 for operator Lundin Norway.
The rig drilled the well in license PL338 in the Norwegian North Sea, 3 km (1.86 mi) from theEdvard Grieg platform on the southwestern flank of the Edvard Grieg field.
According to Lundin, the well encountered a 15-m (49-ft) gross oil column in a 94-m (308-ft) thick sandstone, more than twice the pre-drill thickness estimate, with resources in the range of 10-30 MMboe.
The top reservoir was deeper than prognosed with better than anticipated reservoir quality, with an oil-water contact encountered 9 m (30 ft) deeper than the established contact in this part of the field.
