TORONTOEco (Atlantic) Oil & Gas has secured approval to issue its public notice for environmental clearance certificate for drilling an exploration well offshore north-central Namibia.

The target is the Osprey prospect in around 500 m (1,640 ft) water depth in the “Cooper” block (PEL30) in the Walvis oil basin.

Eco has interpreted several thousand kilometers of 2D seismic and commissioned a 1,100-km (683-mi) 3D survey by PGS Geophysical across the lead.

It has also contracted Tullow Oil’s exploration team, which has built expertise in these types of fan plays offshore Ghana, to oversee processing and conduct initial interpretation for the block partners.

A recent report by Gustavson Associates indicated 882 MMboe of prospective resources on the block. Eco plans to firm up the optimum drilling location and then move the project ahead to drilling.
