Begonia-1, in 453 m (1,486 ft) of water, discovered oil in the Miocene and at a production rate of 6,000 b/d of 36º API crude, according to Total. It is the second successful well on the block.
Sonangol is the concession holder and TEPA is the operator. TEPA has a 30% interest, Sonangol has 30%, Sonancol Sinopec Intl. Seventeen Ltd. has 27.5%, ACREP Block 17 SA has 5%, Falcon Oil Holding Angola has 5%, and PARTEX Oil and Gas (Holdings) Corp. has 2.5%.
