(Asia-Pacific) - Pearl Energy Ltd. has made two oil discoveries in the early stages of its six-well exploration program in block B 5/27 in the Gulf of Thailand.
Jasmine-12A has encountered oil at 6,193 ft depth, and Jasmine-12C at 6,276 ft depth says Pearl.
Jasmine-12A tested an exploration prospect situated 1.7 km to the northwest of the Jasmine DEL-10A well, which was completed in May 2005.
Jasmine-12A was plugged and abandoned after it intersected approximately 266 vertical ft of net oil-bearing sandstones in 14 reservoir intervals with multiple oil/water contacts as interpreted from well data, says Pearl.
Jasmine-12C, drilled directionally from the same surface location as Jasmine-12A, intersected approximately 62 vertical ft of net oil-bearing sandstones in two reservoir intervals with multiple oil/water contacts as interpreted from well data. It was also plugged and abandoned as an oil discovery.
The jackup drilling rigENSCO 107 was to move to the Jasmine-13A location in the Jasmine production area to assess additional oil prospects in the vicinity of the Jasmine field that may be commercially viable using existing infrastructure.
The Jasmine field began producing from Platform A in June 2005. Pearl has decided to connect Platform B and Platform C via subsea pipeline to the FPSOJasmine Venture MV7 located close to Platform A.
Platform B would be 3.7 km northwest of theJasmine Venture MV7, and Platform C would be 4 km south of it, with production scheduled for the 2Q 2007.
