Total signs license offshore Gabon

Through its 58%-owned subsidiary Total Gabon, Total has signed an exploration and production sharing contract for the Diaba license offshore Gabon. The 9,075 sq km (3,504 sq mi) license is 50 km (31 mi) offshore southern Gabon in 100-2,500 m (328-8202 ft) water depths.

PARIS -- Through its 58%-owned subsidiary Total Gabon, Total has signed an exploration and production sharing contract for the Diaba license offshore Gabon. The 9,075 sq km (3,504 sq mi) license is 50 km (31 mi) offshore southern Gabon in 100-2,500 m (328-8202 ft) water depths.

The exploration program will be divided into three phases. The first phase, lasting 3.5 yr, consists of a commitment to shoot 2,000 km (1,243 mi) of 2D seismic. The second 3.5-yr phase includes a commitment to shoot 700 sq km (270 sq mi) of 3D seismic, while the third phase, lasting 3 yr, includes an obligation well.

The license partners are Total Gabon with an 85% interest and the Gabonese Republic with a direct interest of 15%.

Through subsidiary Total Gabon, the group is the country's top-ranked oil operator, with total operated crude oil production of around 37% of Gabon's total output.
