ABERDEEN, UK – Energean Oil & Gas has contracted DeltaTek Global’s SeaCure cementing technology to support the Karish deepwater project off Israel.
DeltaTek will provide services for all the wells’ 20-in. surface casings, which will be drilled from theStena DrillMAXdrillship in around 1,750 m (5,741 ft) of water.
Initially SeaCure will be deployed in four wells, during the current quarter.
SeaCure delivers stabbed-in, inner string cementing for subsea wells. The technology is said to substantially reduce the cost and time of drilling operations through the elimination of shoe tracks and clean out runs, improved cement placement and reduced displacement, offline casing pressure testing, improved drill out performance, and (Delta Tek claims) a minimized risk of bottomhole assembly damage.
Simon French, Well Delivery Manager at Energean Oil & Gas, said: “The deployment of the SeaCure technology on our deepwater surface casing string cement jobs helps us to efficiently verify the integrity the surface casing through eliminating the operational risk of a failed shoe track. Elimination of the shoe track drastically cuts down drill out times and saving money.”
