STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor has discovered oil in the Telesto prospect in the Norwegian North Sea with a well drilled from the Visund A platform.
Recoverable resources are estimated at 12-28 MMbbl.
Telesto/Visund are in the Tampen area in license 120. Water depth in the area is 335 m (1,100 ft).
“We have set ourselves an ambitious goal of sustaining high production from the NCS [Norwegian continental shelf] for decades, and discoveries like this are essential towards this end,” said Gunnar Nakken, Equinor’s senior vice president for Operations West.
The discovery will likely be developed as a tie-in to the platform, he added, following consultations with partners Petoro, ConocoPhillips, and Repsol.
