Sirius well test offshore Colombia confirms region’s gas potential

March 11, 2025
Petrobras says a drillstem test on the recent Sirius-2 well in the GUA-OFF-O Block offshore Colombia has delivered promising results.

Petrobras says a drillstem test (DST) on the recent Sirius-2 well in the GUA-OFF-O Block, 31 km offshore northern Colombia, has delivered promising results.

The offshore well was drilled in the Caribbean Sea in 804 m water depth. The DST, conducted over a 100-m reservoir interval, demonstrated good gas productivity.

Collected samples will be sent ashore for laboratory analyses. Early findings confirm the strong potential for gas in the region.

Petrobras International Braspetro – Sucursal Colombia is operator (44.44%), in partnership with Ecopetrol (55.56% share). The consortium will continue to assess results from the Sirius-1 and Sirius-2 wells, in compliance with contractual obligations with Colombia’s Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos (ANH).
