TORSHAVN, Faroe Islands – The semisubmersible Transocean GA III has spudded the Polecat appraisal well in the UK central North Sea, according to partner Atlantic Petroleum (OMX: FO-ATLA).
Well 20/4a-11 Polecat is being drilled on license P1100 in the Moray Firth in a water depth of 369 ft (112 m), near the producingEttrick and Blackbird fields.
It targets Upper Jurassic reservoirs and should take about 50 days to complete.
Operator Nexen has an 80% interest in the license, with Atlantic holding the remainder following a farm-in deal earlier this year.
