LONDON –Salamander Energy plc has mixed results from its wildcat well in the Gulf of Thailand’s B8/38 license. The primary target showed no hydrocarbon saturation, but a deeper test resulted in oil shows.
On its way to TVD subsea of 1,396 m (4,580 ft), the well found a 25-m (82-ft) section of T5 Miocene sandstone, but a full suite of wireline logs indicate it is water-wet with no evidence of hydrocarbons.
A secondary objective Ratburi carbonates, however, had oil shows at 1,366 m (4,482 ft) TVD subsea and mud loss from 1,370 m (4,495 ft) to final depth. A DST is scheduled.
