Results from the 16/2-13A side track confirm high reservoir quality and thickness, validating the field geological model. The well also proved a deeper oil/water contact at this location.
The appraisal well was drilled 2.4 km (1.5 mi) northeast of the discovery well 16/2-6, and the side track involved a 1,250-m (4,101-ft) step-out to the north-northwest.
It encountered a 22-m (72-ft) gross reservoir column of which 12 m (39 ft) were above the oil/water contact, and the latter was around 3 m (10 ft) deeper than in earlier wells on license PL501.
Both of the wells will be P&A’d.
One of the remaining two appraisal wells scheduled this year on the license (16/2-16) will be in the northernJohan Sverdrup area, 3.7 km (2.3 mi) northwest of the 16/2-13 well. It will test the extent of the field in this area.
