STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lundin Norway has started drilling its latest exploration well, using the semisubmersible Transocean Arctic.
Well 33/2-1 targets the Storm prospect in license PL555. The location is around 200 km (124 mi) west-northwest of Florø on the Norwegian west coast and 65 km (40.4 mi) northwest of the Snorre field.
The main aims are to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of the Upper Jurassic sandstones, said to be equivalent to the reservoir in the BP-operatedMagnus field in UK waters, 35 km (21.7 mi) to the south. Lundin assesses Storm’s prospective reserves at 89 MMboe.
Planned TD is 4,500 m (14,764 ft) below mean sea level. Drilling is expected to last around 80 days.
