Petrobras discovers gas in offshore deepwater EspĂ­rito Santo basin

RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras and its partners have a new postsalt gas discovery in the offshore Espírito Santo basin.

Well 3-BRSA-1259-ESS was drilled in 1,043 m (3,422 ft) of water on the Tanganika structure in the Malombe Discovery Evaluation Plan (PAD), 72 km (44.7 mi) off the coast ofEspĂ­rito Santo state.

Petrobras says logging confirmed gas in reservoirs at a subsurface depth of around 2,880 m (9,446 ft). The well has since reached TD of 2,996 m (9,829 ft).

The company and partners Repsol Sinopec (11.11%) will proceed with a formation test.
