HOUSTON -- Nido Petroleum Ltd. has concluded drilling Phase 1 at the Galoc development offshore Palawan, Philippines. Two horizontal production wells were drilled into the southern half of the field.
The drilling program included a pilot hole to establish the optimum location for the horizontal production sections. Following the pilot hole, the Galoc 3 horizontal section was moved slightly north to improve access to oil in place.
A total of 11,346 m (37,224 ft) was drilled during the program, and a 5.5-in (14-cm) predrilled liner was run on the Galoc 3 horizontal production section. A total of some 2,900 m (9,514 ft) of horizontal production section is in place across the reservoir 2,190 m (7,185 ft) below sea level. Nido says the wells each cover more than 40% of the field.
