STAVANGER, Norway -- Exploration well 6608/11-6 in the Hauk prospect in the Norwegian Sea is dry, according to StatoilHydro.
The purpose of the well was to explore the potential for hydrocarbons in Mid and Lower Jurassic sandstones in the Hauk prospect. TheOcean Vanguard drilled the well to a TD of 1828 m (5,997 ft) below the sea level. The well was completed in Lower Jurassic rocks; it will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.
TheOcean Vanguard will now sail to the North Sea where it will drill exploration well 34/7-33 for StatoilHydro.
