TEHRAN-- Iranian Offshore Oil Co. has launched a new drilling rig for use in the Salman oilfield in the Persian Gulf.
The rig was designed and constructed in-house. Once operational, it should add 8,000-10,000 b/d of oil to Salman’s daily production capacity.
Elsewhere in the region, Pars Oil and Gas Co. expects to start drilling the first well on the South Pars gas project this week, three months ahead of schedule. A total of 44 wells are to be drilled.
