HAMBURG, Germany -- RWE Dea Egypt has discovered more gas in its North El Amriya concession, offshore northern Egypt.

The NEA 4x find is 6 km (3.7 mi) east of NEA 3x, discovered in January. NEA 4x was drilled to a final depth of 3,320 m (10,892 ft), encountering a gas reservoir in the Miocene layer in the Abu Maadi formation with a thickness of 58 m (190 ft).

A production test generated volumes of up to 25,000 MMcf/d.

“This renewed find reflects the immense potential of this concession,” said Ralf to Baben, COO of RWE Dea.

The company plans further evaluation of NEA 4x. The company has a 100% operating interest in North El Amriya, which is 40 km (25 mi) north of Alexandria in the Mediterranean Sea.
