HOUSTON – Noble Energy has confirmed a new deepwater gas discovery offshore Israel in the Tamar SW structure.
The well, drilled to a TD of 17,420 ft (5,309 ft) in 5,405 ft (1,647 m) of water, encountered around 355 ft (108 m) of net natural gas pay within the targeted Miocene intervals.
It is the company’s eighth consecutive discovery in the Levant basin. The well is around 8 km (4.9 mi) southwest of theTamar field.
Analysis of drilling data and wireline logs suggests resources in the range 640-770 bcf (18-22 bcm). Reservoir sands were of high quality, Noble added, with potential for per-well productivity of 250 MMcf/d (7 MMcm/d) of gas.
The company and its partners have now discovered nearly 40 tcf (1.1 tcm) of gas in the Eastern Mediterranean.
