ONGC reports two gas finds offshore India

NEW DELHI, IndiaONGC has notched two gas discoveries, one each offshore western and eastern India.

Exploratory well GK-42 # 3 was drilled to a depth of 1,480 m (4,855 ft) in the GK-28 PML license in the Kutch shallow offshore, Western offshore basin. It delivered commercial gas rates during a test in the 1,274.5-1,276.5-m (4,181-4,188-ft) interval. This is a new producing basin, and this latest find boosts the pool in the GK-28/GK-42 areas that ONGC plans to put into production.

Off the eastern coast, exploratory well KGOSN041NANL#2 was drilled in NELP block KG-OSN-2004/1 in the KG shallow offshore basin to a depth of 2,000 m (6,562 ft). Gas flowed on test here from the 1,231-1,249-m (4,039-4,098 ft) interval. This was the fourth discovery on the block.
